Zadkovich on target for Aussies in opener

Rams Australian midfielder Ruben Zadkovich was on target for the green and gold as they draw 1-1 with Serbia in their opening Group A match in the Beijing Olympics.

Zadkovich, who joined the Rams in the summer, opened the scoring for the Olyroos in the 69th minutes in Shanghai, but Serbia's Slobodan Rajkovic equalised in the 78th minute.

Sheffield United midfielder David Carney was the architect in the Australian goal, jinking his way into the box and firing in a low cross which missed both Archie Thompson and Nikita Rukavytsa but Zadkovich slid in at the far post to finish clinically.
