Bywater's Tottenham Move Falls Through

Stephen Bywater's move to Tottenham has fallen through, so he will be staying with Derby. Paul Jewell has said that he is disappointed for him but he expects him to challenge Roy Carroll for the goalkeepers jersey this season.

'I think Stephen is a bit disappointed but, from our point of view, he will certainly push Roy Carroll

'Stephen has looked very sharp in pre-season and I am not disappointed, especially with Lewis Price being injured.'

Jewell was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

A fee had been agreed with Tottenham last week for the 27-year-old, and he had undergone a medical but the North London club are said to have pulled out of what was a shock deal at the last minute and are now expected to sign Cesar Sanchez instead.
