Green Secures Late Win For Rams

Derby's pre-season preparations continued on Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 at Mansfield, but this was a struggle at times!

Alan O'Hare gave Mansfield the home side the lead after only 10 minutes when he headed home but Rob Hulse marked his first appearance for us with an equaliser two minutes later, but Mansfield were again ahead before half time when former Ram Mark Stallard scored. Kris Commons, who had missed pre-season with injury up to today, got on at half time and was joined midway through the second half by the returning Alan Stubbs.

With 15 minutes to play we were still 2-1 down but two goals in three minutes put us 3-2 up. Firstly Emanuel Villa headed us level then Paul Green Volleyed home to give us the lead for the first time. There was still time for Mansfield to level things, had Ryan Goward been able to convert his penalty. Stubbs fouled Goward, and he stepped up himself but his penalty was poor and Roy Carroll saved with what was just about the last kick of the match.

It might not have been convincing at times, but as with all pre-season matches the result isn't the main issue here it is just another match closer to full fitness for most and a match closer to the new season.
