'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Derby Beaten By TOP Oss

Derby's pre-season preparations began with a defeat in Holland on Friday as we lost 2-0 to TOP Oss. The result isn't overly important however.

New signings Martin Albrechtsen, Stephen Davies, Jordan Stewart and Nathan Ellington started the match, which saw us fall behind after 40 minutes when Mike Thijssen scored. Paul Jewell made six changes at half time, which included the introduction of another summer signing Liam Dickinson, and more followed throughout the second half but this couldn't make any difference and Karim Fachtali doubled the lead shortly after the break.

This wasn't the ideal way to start our pre-season schedule but I suspect that Jewell will look at the positives, despite the fact he will obviously be disappointed by the defeat.

Ouch, not a good start. You should come good though I think. Do you think they'll need time to bed in.. or do you think it'll be an excuse?

The players will need time to bed in, but its not an excuse for the defeat. Pre-season is an exercise isn't it, which prepares you for the season ahead, where it really counts.
