Jewell Admits To Bodde Frustrations

Our bid to sign Swansea's Ferrie Bodde has dragged on all summer, and last week we officially withdrew our interest in the Dutchman. Now Paul Jewell has admitted his frustration at the deal, or lack of it.

'We would like to speak to him but until we get permission from Swansea, we won't be able to do that.'

26-year-old Bodde is in Sweden with Swansea for a pre-season training camp, but has often suggested that he wants to come to Pride Park and has had a transfer request reject, with two bids also turned down.

'The vibes I get every time I pick up the paper is that the player wants to come here.

'If the clubs can't agree a fee or if Swansea have different ideas to the valuation I put on him, then we can't do a deal.

'Ferrie is a player we admire and we've tried and tried and tried, and there's only so much a club can do. '

But Jewell was talking to the BBC.

Our interest has apparently officially ended now, but I still suspect this will drag on a little longer, but how it will end I wouldn't know, but he does seem as though he wants to leave so do Swansea really want to keep an unhappy player?

Should he be sold 50% of any fee received would have to go to Den Haag, as this was part of the deal which first took him to Swansea in an £80,000 move last summer.

We want him, we want him not, we want him, we want him not... Embarassing.

I'm not embarassed by the whole ordeal, but I am getting fed up with it and I'm having my doubts about Bodde, as if the rumours that he wont tour with you are true I'm not sure I like his character. Yes he might want a move, but no player should basially go on strike!
