Albrechtsen Signing Delights Jewell

Martin Albrechtsen became the latest summer signing when he arrived from West Brom on Monday. And his signing is one that Paul Jewell believes makes a statement of intent this season.

'Martin is a player who had a lot of options with some very good clubs.

'He has chosen to join us and that speaks volumes about the pull and ambition of Derby County.

'He is a quality centre-half and has a proven pedigree at gaining promotion to the Premier League.'

Jewell was talking to the official website.

Albrechtsen certainly does have a proven history and is an international with Denmark so certainly has plenty to offer, so to have signed him when others also wanted him is a very good sign of the potential that players believe we have.

I hope that we do take the Cup seriously, even though promotion is our main aim. Albrechtsen has a reputation of gaining promotion, so another this season please. Quality and experience, very good signing.
