Barnes Gives Us A Lift

Paul Jewell is delighted with the progress that Giles Barnes is making from his latest injury setback, and although he isn't putting a time on his return he could be back ahead of the original schedule.

'He does need another operation, but Dr Steadman is absolutely delighted with his progress.

'There's no time frame on it, but it's really good news for Giles, and really good news for us. '

Jewell was talking to BBC Radio Derby.

Barnes hasn't played since March, and had an injury plagued time as we suffered relegation last season, but he could now be back ahead of the original October date. He will still miss the start of the season however.

Sad to see such a talented player struggling with injury.

He'll get over them, which in a funny way might benefit us as it allows us to keep him. Hopefully he'll be fully fit soon and can take the Championship by storm.
