Rams To Miss Out On Phillips

The hopes of bringing Kevin Phillips to Derby have been ended by the news that he is prepared to sign a new one-year contract with West Brom.

Phillips has been holding out for a two-year contract but they are only prepared to give him one-year and although he would be open to the idea of a move to Pride Park the lure of Premier League football again has been the defining factor for the 34-year-old striker.

His agent has admitted that he still favours a two-year stay but will settle for a year instead as this at least allows him to play at the top level again.
