Rams star to get top treatment
Rams young midfielder Giles Barnes is to see the specialist who treated the likes of Michael Owen, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Alan Shearer for treatment on his knee injury.
The 19-year-old misses the rest of the season for Paul Jewell`s side after being injured in training and will undergo surgery at the hands of Dr Richard Steadman if necessary.
'He's the best in the world so he'll have a look at Giles. Hopefully he can put it right,' said boss Jewell.
'We don't know the extent of it but he won't play again this season.'
One piece of good news for Derby is that Barnes's injury does not involve ligament damage.
It makes an unwanted hat-trick for Jewell and the Rams, as Barnes joins team-mates Claude Davis and Tyrone Mears in being out the rest of the campaign.
You can also add Manchester City loanee Danny Mills to the Rams long term injury list.
As the Rams look to life out of the Premiership next season Jewell will hope to have all four players available at the start of the campaign.
He`s now looking for the current squad to prove there worth, and the main aim of his side is to beat the lowest points total in the Premier League, which is held be Sunderland (14 points)
